Disney Infinity 3.0 Toy Box Takeover review

The villains of Disney Infinity have taken over and it’s up to you and your heroes to save the toy box from certain doom. Toy Box Takeover is an expansion game for Disney Infinity 3.0. It’s a dungeon crawler game, where you’ll visit various worlds of Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars, as you fight hordes of enemies, take on big, bad  bosses, and run from The Void, a magical black hole that’ll follow you and try to swallow your character.

Gameplay

In Toy Box Takeover, you get a bird’s eye view of everything. With the help of your sidekick, a little buddy that you can feed and customize, You’ll take on huge groups of enemies, find treasure chests, and take on bosses. The game feels a little bit like Gauntlet, which I love. Most characters are compatible with this game. The only ones that aren’t compatible are the Cars characters. Other than that, you can play as your favorite heroes, or even your villain characters. This game offers a lot of fun, variety, and challenge. It’s a great way to level up some of your characters too. My only complaint is the game’s length. You can finish this game within a week, but It’s still fun to replay the levels.

My tips

Need help conquering the higher difficulties? Follow my tips and you might just be able to beat extreme difficulty.

  1. Practice makes perfect. Enter the Hero Destroyer on Extreme Difficulty to sharpen your skills.
  2. It’s a good idea to have a powerful sidekick that can heal you and refill your special meter.
  3. Distance is key. You don’t want want to be rushing in fists or swords blazing all the time. You’ll want a character that’s great at fighting at a distance and has a strong special for when you get swarmed. I personally recommend Sam Flynn or any of the Inside Out characters.
  4. Don’t sweat it if your character gets defeated. It happens, even to me.
