My top 5 Sonic the Hedgehog songs

Let’s face it, no matter how good or how bad Sonic games are, you can usually guarantee that the songs are going to be awesome. Today, I’m going to list my favorite songs from Sonic games. To make sure there’s no flooding, I’m choosing one song from one game. I’ll also leave links so you can hear the songs too.

Number 5: Knight of the Wind

From Sonic and the Black Knight

I know, Sonic the Hedgehog and friends using swords is pretty ridiculous, but this song is very fitting to Sonic. Crush 40, the band who usually performs the intro songs of modern Sonic games, does a great job keeping that nice, rock vibe I expect from them in Knight of the Wind. It has a pretty nice solo and good vocals.

Number 4: Reach for the Stars

From Sonic Colors

The band Cash Cash brings us a great, fast paced intro to Sonic Colors. The rapid drumming, a rocking guitar, and a sweet keyboard sound makes this song awesome. I definitely feel like running while listening to this song. It’s that good.

Number 3: Green Hill Zone

From Sonic the Hedgehog (1991)

Man, who doesn’t feel nostalgic listening to this? It’s from the first level we all remember. The peaceful song goes very well with the background, yet fits well to Sonic’s high speed running. Heck, most of the first level songs start out peaceful. It’s pretty inspiring.

Number 2: I Am…All of Me

From Shadow the Hedgehog

Sometimes, great Sonic songs don’t star the blue blur himself. This one’s all about the Ultimate Life Form. Now as bad as this game is, this song pretty much describes the whole plot. Again, we have Crush 40, delivering driving, hard rock guitars and more serious lyrics.

Number 1: E.G.G.M.A.N.

From Sonic Adventure 2

I could have picked quite a few songs from Sonic Adventure 2 to be on this list. From Live and Learn, Supporting me, and the theme from the Radical Highway level would have been good choices, but dang it, Dr. Eggman’s theme is so darn catchy. Paul Shortino perfectly captures who Dr. Eggman is on this song. Those lyrics all about his master plan, and that sick solo are the reasons why E.G.G.M.A.N. is at Number 1.

Remember, this is all based on my personal opinion. Don’t see a song you like? You make your own top 5.
